Tall Stacks 2006 Puts Out a Call for Regional Musical Performers
CINCINNATI – With only eight months before the Tall Stacks Music, Arts & Heritage
Festival returns to the Ohio River, organizers are searching the region for top-notch musical acts to entertain the more than one million visitors expected to attend.
Regional musical groups and solo performers wishing to be considered for the October 4-8 festival line-up are invited to submit demo tapes, bios and a schedule of upcoming appearances. This year’s musical line-up will again feature the kinds of music that grew up on the river and helped to shape the culture of river cities like Cincinnati.
Tall Stacks is looking for groups or individuals who perform original music in such American roots genres as jazz, blues, folk, Bluegrass, gospel, Dixieland, country and heartland rock.
“The regional acts were a big part of the event’s success in 2003, and in turn gave them valuable exposure to hundreds of thousands of people. We’re looking for high-caliber regional acts to help us make this year’s festival even better,” said Mike Smith, executive director of Tall Stacks.
Excitement is building for the 2006 event, which promises to be even bigger and better than 2003. The addition of the music festival at the last Tall Stacks festival was a smashing success, helping to bring about 900,000 people to Greater Cincinnati over five days and earning glowing praise from fans and music critics alike.
The music component of Tall Stacks was compared to such renowned music festivals as the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival and the Memphis in May Beale Street Music Festival. More than 75 acts are expected to perform at this year’s event, with more than half coming from the region.
The Tall Stacks Commission will accept musical submissions from regional acts through March 15, 2006. The Tall Stacks Entertainment Committee will review submissions. Groups that would like to submit materials should send the following:
- A demo audio tape or CD
- Complete group biography
- Schedule of upcoming appearances
- Contact information
- DVD or Video, if available.
Materials should be sent to:
